How to Follow Up on a Roofing Quote

Roofing leads are expensive and slow to close. A homeowner getting a roof replaced is making a five-figure decision, getting three or four bids, and usually waiting on insurance or financing. So the quote going quiet doesn't mean no — it means not yet. The roofer who follows up well is usually the one who lands the job.

When to send the first roofing follow-up

48 hours after you send the estimate. The homeowner has had a night to read it, maybe show a spouse, and the number has sunk in. Following up the same day reads as anxious. Waiting a week lets the other two bids get the first reply.

For insurance or storm-damage jobs, add one line that the other roofers won't: offer to help them read the adjuster's scope against your estimate. That single sentence makes you the helpful expert instead of the third name on a list.

What to actually say

Skip "just checking in." It gives the homeowner nothing to reply to. Give them a reason:

"Hi [name] — wanted to make sure the roofing estimate came through OK and answer anything before you compare it to the others. Happy to walk through the materials line or the timeline if that helps. No rush."

It's specific, it's useful, and it invites a real reply instead of a polite "still thinking."

How many times to follow up on a roof

Most roofers follow up once, hear nothing, and assume they lost on price. The signed contract usually comes on touch three or four — after the insurance check clears, after the spouse says yes, after the other guy ghosts them. A simple rhythm over the month:

(We break down the exact wording in our contractor follow-up text templates and estimate follow-up emails.)

The honest problem for busy roofers

You're on a roof all day. Remembering the Day-14 nudge for every open bid — at the right time, without sounding pushy — is the first thing to fall off when you're slammed. That's exactly when the good jobs quietly go to the contractor who stayed in touch.

QuoteChaser runs the whole Day 1 → Day 30 sequence by text and email for every roofing quote you send, keeps it inside sensible hours, and pings you the second a homeowner replies yes. You quote the roof; it chases every estimate so none slip.
