How to Follow Up on a Flooring Quote

Flooring is a project homeowners want but can easily live without for another year. They're choosing material, weighing cost, and figuring out how to live around the install. That hesitation is exactly why follow-up wins flooring jobs — the contractor who keeps it easy and stays in touch usually books, not the cheapest bid.

When to send the first flooring follow-up

About 48 hours after the estimate. Long enough that they've pictured the new floors, short enough that the excitement hasn't faded into "maybe later." Same-day feels desperate; a week later the spark is gone.

Lean on convenience: for flooring, the friction is often "we don't want to deal with the mess and moving furniture." Reassure them you handle that — it removes the real reason they're stalling.

What to actually say

Skip "just checking in." Give a reason and a next step:

"Hi [name] — wanted to make sure the flooring estimate landed and see if you had questions on the material or how we'd handle furniture and timing. If you're ready, I can pencil you in for [timeframe]. No rush either way."

Helpful, specific, and it offers a date.

How many times to follow up

Flooring contractors lose more jobs to delay than to price. The homeowner loved the samples, then life happened and they didn't reply. The booking usually comes on touch three or four:

(Exact wording is in our contractor follow-up text templates and estimate follow-up emails.)

The honest problem for flooring contractors

You're installing all day, then quoting at night. The Day-14 follow-up on a quote from two weeks ago is the first thing to fall off — and it's often the one that would've booked. Doing it for every open quote, on time, without nagging, just isn't realistic by memory.

QuoteChaser runs the full Day 1 → Day 30 sequence by text and email for every flooring estimate, keeps it inside sensible hours, and pings you the second a customer says yes. You quote the job; it chases every quiet lead so none slip.
